CHUEKO – Tools of Oppression 7"
In the past few years Portland has produced some top-notch hardcore, most notably in the family of bands such as ALIENATOR, SUCK LORDS, REEK MINDS, etc. The latest installment of this cluster of weirdos is CHUEKO, with their four song debut 7”. Fierce fast, hard punk with solid paces, great tones (notably the bass, often taking the helm as the courier of riffage) and really catchy tunes. There are many nods to HC bands past, specifically 80’s USHC, but there is also a nice UK82 overtone, giving the songs a nice swagger, often bringing to mind GBH (in fact the intro for “Stupid People” is a direct homage to said band). This ep deserves to be on your turntable if you appreciate the aforementioned bands and hardcore with an emphasis on punk. No cheezy breakdowns or macho posturing, just steady driving slamming shit which will demand multiple flips of the record

DISCONFECT -...Less Future 12"col.
This album has been shelved for far too long. Released in 2022 on multicolored vinyl by the band. DISCONFECT originated from the Bremen (Germoney) punk scene with all members being involved in numerous other bands. "...Less Future" has 10 tracks of furious and intense D-Beat Raw Punk with a bold punk-political attitude & message hollered by one gruff and one screaming vocalist. The guitars tune into a relentless chainsaw massacre. The drummer is a unstoppable d-beat machine going full throttle dismantling his drumkit song by song. I can't help it ... the singer somehow reminds me of the nineties MISFITS reunion... curious? You have to go see them live... or better, invite them!

The vinyl version from Hiroshima's BLOODSUCKER RECORDS CD is out ! For those who're not familiar with these two Tokyo Hard Core bands, FIGHTBACK play fast and angry hardcore, that reminds me of Bastard's DEAR COPS ! 5 slaughtering hardcore assaults for them, including a Discharge cover that you can guess from their band name. The band has an amazing pedigree including Tokurow from Bastard / Judgement and Ironfist Tatsushima (G.I.S.M., Crow, Die You Bastard!, etc...) on this record. HAZARD is a longtime running Punk Hardcore band, delivering primitive bursts of chaos and aggression since 1991
