European pressing of this raging @-punk release that was put out on Tribal War Records early last year. Eric and Shelly from Catchphraze Records are among the members of Contravene, an action minded anarcho-punk band from Arizona. Powerful and slightly metaltinged music back up a female vocal charged assault with angry and well-written political lyrics. Mostly fast and upbeat but they're also not afraid to put in more melodic and calm parts That reminds me often of bands like Nausea on one, and early Chumbawamba on the other end. They do a great cover of One by One's "Common Ground" from the "In the Spirit of Total Resistance" comp.

Anti-System is a legendary British Anarcho punk band. Formed in Bradford in 1981 , the band recorded a demo whose tracks found their way onto a Pax Records compilation. Their debut release was the five-track 'Defence of the Realm' EP issued in 1983, which was followed (on Reconciliation Records after the closure of Pax Records) with the 'No Laughing Matter' album in 1985 and the 12" 'A Look at Life' EP in 1986. The band reformed in 2014 and in 2017 released the highly acclaimed “AT WHAT PRICE IS FREEDOM" EP for Boss Tuneage. Since the release of that EP, the band has undergone significant line up changes, and in January this year that new line up recorded this live album in front of 28 friends in the Rocking Horse rehersal rooms in Durham. The ripping results capture the current incarnation of the band perfectly, as displayed on the 16 tracks on that album.

Karma Sutra had already been a band for five years when they released their elusive one and only album ,released on their own Paradoxical Records label in 1987. The Daydreams of a Production Line Worker came towards the end of the bands life span and all they had to show prior was a few demos and some tracks on compilations on Mortarhate. By the time the band entered the studio KARMA SUTRA was spreading their musical wings, moving from a straight ahead anarcho sound to a more dense and thoughtful place, adding flourishes of post punk and moody atmospheres to their agit-prop political stance thus creating one of the most idiosyncratic concept albums of their time, where situationist politics meet the most ambitious anarcho punk sound.
