HOPE? - Your Perception Is Not My Reality ? 7
Zoom image

Debut 7" of Portland crust in the 90s tradition. In a time of nihilistic hardcore and intentionally non-sequential garage rock it is refreshing to find punk that hues to a political core. HOPE? echoes the anger and aspirations of the political punk of years past, but channels their rage and demand for recognition into messages that are present and necessary today. As the world crumbles around us we need bands like HOPE? to reinforce our small communities; raise out fists, dance, and shout our communal yearning, rejection, and solidarity.

F.O.T.K. (Fear Of The Known) ‎– The Last Song LP

F.O.T.K. (Fear Of The Known) ‎– The Last Song LP

LP debut for this DIY crust punk supergroup, featuring members of CHAOS UK, DISORDER, WAR//PLAGUE, and others, holding an interesting ethos and way of recording (which was mostly virtual, with no direct physical interaction between band members in the making), and intended as a critique of the actual state of punk today and its links with protest and critical thinking and doing. Even recorded separately, the recording and mixing efforts make the fact that they are all separated while executing it almost untraceable. Coming from this selection of band members, you are getting a high-quality album with no less than fifteen tracks that never seem to stop giving riffage, and hardcore vocals that rise on the Lemmy side of punk from time to time. The crust punk influence is strong on this one. Suggested tracks: “Democracy Hammered” and “Divide & Rot.” Interesting, give it a spin.

NAUSEA - Extinction LP/LPcol.

Nausea's sole full length offering 'Extinction' finally available on wax again after more than two decades via Svart Records in December. After releasing the Cybergod/Lie Cycle 12” EP, Svart Records is set to continue reissuing the work of New York’s most legendary crust thrashers, Nausea. The band’s only full-length album, Extinction, was originally released in 1990 by Profane Existence in the US and Meantime Records in the UK. Now, Svart Records is proud to present this cult album with remastered sound, gatefold covers, booklet, and new album artwork taken from the poster included with the original pressing of the Extinction vinyl.

ES WAR MORD – Die Utopie der Kosmonauten LP

ES WAR MORD – Die Utopie der Kosmonauten LP

In my opinion among the best German punk bands of the past decade. ES WAR MORD play melodic but also very melancholic punk. A comparison that might not be 100% akkurate is RAZZIA morphing into "Ausflug mit Franziska" ... but who of you understand comparsion unless you're a fan of RAZZIA eh? This album was among my best of 2022 and still would be in my best of 2024. Features members of VORKRIEGSJUGEND and JINGO DE LUNCH but don't sound in any way like their previous bands so don't get you hopes up too high. Listen to it. Package as usual from SOUDN OF SUBTERRANIA is top notch!
