	AGRIMONIA Host of the Winged. Double LP MP3: "Cyst" • (Website) The wait was long, but now it´s ready! A dignified follow-up of their first album! An intense Dolp from this dark crust band from Gothenburg. I haven´t really enough words to describe this brutal yet twisted attack on my eardrums. Eight songs in just over 72 minutes(!) of death and blackmetal gloom with a healthy dose of crust punk influences leaving me speechless. The Double Lp comes in a beautiful gatefold with a foldout insert. CD version is being released in US by Profane Existence and should be available in the next update here as well. 	PROTESTERA 01.05.1886. LP MP3: "Krossa Honom" • (Website) New fullength from Protestera which gives us a new approach to society and it's boundaries. Taking up where Rock n riot left off; raging speed and anger, as fast and aggressive and powerful a-punk could get. 11 songs in total (3 are re-recorded) that show that this band manages to invent themselves over and over again from release to release. The thoughtful lyrix and thoughts are printed in a 36-pages booklet with lot's of graphics. The title really says it all; 01.05.1886. The date itself is when the Haymarker massacre took place where five anarchists where sentenced to death for throwing a bomb into a crowd of people. All of them where innocent. Although this was a long time ago, 140 years to be exact, the situation is basicly the same today. 	THE AUTONOMADS No Mans Land. LP MP3: "G.M.P." • (5.4 MB) Hence the cliché that most of the Bands on Ruin Nation Rec are either way Crust or Anarcho Punk or even Metal... i might surprise with this young 5 piece from Manchester (UK) and their very own brand of Dub/Ska and snotty Anarcho Punk Sound. “The Autonomads” would fit into a perfect row together with such acts like CITIZEN FISH, INNER TERRESTRIALS and USUAL SUSPECTS... but categories and comparsions aside, this Band stunned me totally with their fresh and amazingly well produced and well written musical output and their ideas and energy that overthrows every slight moment of stagnation... musically you get not too much and not too less of the Dubpunk elements compared with melodic saxophone hints here and there and a full throttle Punkrock doze spreading a very well thought and Eco-based political message. Packed into the backroom of a pub with this lot on the stage gets the dancefloor hot n' sweaty very quickly. 	VICIOUS IRENE Trash your Future. 7" MP3: "Hysteria" • (5.4 MB) Find words to describe the own record releases without getting too much into a hysteria about how amazing it is? Well... this 7” gives me a fairly hard time coz i think it´s absolutely mind blowing and fantastic! VICIOUS IRENE are 4 young Ladies hailing from Gothenburg (Sweden), formed in 2001 and busy touring Scandinavia, Europe and even recently the USA with their uniquely blend of shredding Crust meets Grunge(!) This new 7”, recorded in 2008, is their fifth release to date and delivers a blistering and massive mixture of Punk Rock with some odd early nineties "L7" or “Lunachicks” based Grunge influence , creating a wall of grooves and monster riffs while beating it all into bits and pieces with a harsh and uncompromising (early) Discharge / D-Beat overtone simply made to kick your ass! Dual Female Vocals pointing social political message on this 4 Songs EP (CD Version will have one more...) that easily can make you rave with fists in the air and annoying your Neighbors never was such Fun before! 	ANTHRAX (UK) One Last Drop. LP MP3: "Various Tracks" • (Website) It took a while but was well worth the waiting for those who didn´t got the CD Version already and those who have should get this Vinyl edition of the ANTHRAX Discography since it´s extremely well made and beautiful and not only comes with a huge Postersleeve but also with some nifty stickers and a Patch plus some never seen before Live shots and liner notes. 	COLD DEATH 4 Song Demo. MC MP3: "Last Bite" • (5.4 MB) First offering of a (hopefully) range of releases. This is a a relatively new Band in which i play the role of the Bass player therefor get ready for some HYPE! This is very tunefull Punk-Rock with a massive early eighties UK Gothic/Death Rock overtone that reminds slightly of old "Skeletal Family" but has much more drive and dirt and most of PUNK innit. Chorus Pedal driven Guitar and Bass melodies over a moldy Drum beat. Theres a huge and impressing force of power and virtue in the Female Vocals that have a urge for Blues every here and there and makes this quite interesting and promising for more. - All in all a very classic or better "Vintage" Recording that deserves a vintage format as a pro-manufactured demo tape and a alternate MP3 Download availabable here. - and if you can get us some gigs and Tours - get in touch. 	DETRITUS Same Title. LP MP3: "Puja" • (3.6 MB) Nine attacks of pure mid nineties eurosquat-crustcore that comes in its raw and angered nature with the filthy grinding metal guitar chords and slashing cymbals and thundering drums going steady forward and forward. Two female vocalists vomit their complains and disgust in a dual treatment and i can tell you they are pretty unamused. This nine tracks are a premortal recording put down in 2005 before "Saar", singer of Detritus, died in 2006 and hence the band never released anything, this release might be a memorial and a document and in the age of sterile "neo-crust" it´s about time to bring this back on the map i guess and they fill the gap quite well between early UNHINGED and DISAFFECT... for name dropping purpose if you can´t handle. 	PREYING HANDS Through the Dark. LP/CD MP3: "Clues" • (4.4 MB) Upon returning from a European tour late in 2006, Ballast promptly broke up. 3/5th of the band would continue to play together and soon would form PREYING HANDS including new members whose previous efforts included Montreal bands Snake Master, Desperate Living and Last Days. The sound seamlessly blends an odd combination of crust, melodic hardcore and a touch of pop punk. The powerful female vocals, that lyrically combine the personal with the political, complete an intense picture. 	ACTIVE SLAUGHTER 4T2UDE. CD MP3: "Price of Silence" • (Website) Second full lengh CD release with more punk political punk fucking rock kinda a much more serious and consequent version of old mid 80ties CONFLICT or a more British sounding BEHIND ENEMY LINES... very angry and very indeep and pissed off and simply a great band if you like the old UK Anarcho Punk rage. ACTIVE SLAUGHTER are a band that is known for their activism outside of practise rooms and concert halls, so you find their Guitarplayer JJ recently set for big animal rights trial in court. "On the 1st may 2007 police raided 32 addresses around the country and arrested and charged 14 people with conspiracy to blackmail. 	REFUSE / ALL What lurks Beneath. CD MP3: "Slow Motion Suicide" • (Website) If you recognise the name Refuse All, it´s probably because they can lay claim to being one of the busiest bands on the punk circuit. But despite playing every gig, bar mitzvah and wake they can manage, and undergoing some changes in personnel, Refuse All have managed to release "What lurks beneath", their first release with the current line up. What they have also managed to do with this album is to set a clear identity for themselves. The two guitar combination works a treat to give their sound some depth and substance, and new vocalist Kev´s throaty delivery gives the band a violent edge. The lyric sheet doesn´t make cheerful nighttime reading either, a cynical rant at politicians, materialism, apathy and ignorance. Like all the best punk bands, Refuse All don´t have all the answers, but they do ask all the right questions. My favourite tracks on this are "not just a dream", "last winter" (despite the obviously nicked Motorhead riff sorry lads I noticed!), "slow motion suicide" and the brave attempt into new territory on "rise non-believer". 	AGRIMONIA S/t. LP MP3: "Scars make Life" • (Website) These folks come from Gothenburg in lovely Sweden and deliver the goods! The demo (minus 1 song though) that you'll find on this black piece of vinyl hold 4 times thundering death and black metal soaked doom, with hints of crust, as well as atmospheric and epic darkness. The guitars range from devastating heaviness to gloomy acoustic sections, with piercing leads that flash through the darkness every now and then. If you've ever wanted to know exactly how your favourite metal, crust, and doom bands would have sounded like if they were one band this is where you should turn. I won't namedrop anything, just ask you to take me on my word that you really need to check this out if you've been even the slightest intrigued with what's written above. 	CONTEMPT Who needs Diplomacy? LP / CD MP3: "War for oil" • (Website) Contempt have been kickin´out punk rock tunes since 1984. The band came together out of the ashes of three Wolverhampton based punk bands Vendetta, Seventh Plague and Pulex Irritans and have since gone on to tour all over the UK and in Europe. An international three piece consisting of members from the US, Germany and England, CROSS STITCHED EYES pays obvious homage to gloomy UK punk bands of yore like RUDIMENTARY PENI and AMEBIX (especially in the vocals) without sounding overly contrived. With a solid foundation of heavy, pounding drums, dark, driving riffage, and an overall evil/scary ambience, the disc also includes some interesting moments of melody, gothicness, weird ocal and guitar effects, and straight-up punk rock (...)
